Engineering site rebuilt for tender-ready credibility
About project
Website Redesign · Website Design
Gridserve is an Australian engineering consultancy bidding on utilities, mining, oil and gas, and BESS infrastructure. Procurement teams shortlist firms on credentials, project scale, and tender-ready proof before the first business development conversation. Major infrastructure buyers evaluate CPEng registration, sector experience, and project references before inviting firms to prequalify or tender. When the WordPress site is slow, littered with broken links, and fails to present credentials, decision-makers form a negative impression before BD can intervene.

Problem
Gridserve's WordPress site was slow, littered with broken links, and failed to present credentials or project scale. Procurement teams could not reach project proof or contact without hitting dead ends. First impressions eroded trust before engineering conversations started, especially when peer firms present CPEng, sector clarity, and case scale upfront on fast, reliable platforms.
Solution
We migrated to a lean custom build, structured navigation for how engineering clients evaluate services, projects, careers, and about, and placed credentials on every key page. Load times dropped. Technical SEO now targets business-development searches, not vanity brand terms.
What we focused on
Credentials on every key page
CPEng, registration, power systems, and national coverage appear where procurement evaluators look during shortlist review. Credentials precede generic about copy on services and project pages.
Project scale and sector proof
Case work organised by utilities, mining, oil and gas, and BESS supports tender evaluation. Buyers validate sector experience and delivery scale before inviting firms to prequalify.
Lean custom platform migration
WordPress replaced with a lightweight build that eliminated plugin bloat and broken link debt. Engineering firms are judged on operational reliability, and the site now reflects that standard.
BD-ready SEO structure
Page titles and structure target business-development searches procurement teams use when building engineering shortlists. Content supports sector and capability queries, not brand-only traffic.
Evaluation-path navigation
Services, projects, careers, and about follow how engineering clients research firms. Navigation matches tender and prequalification workflows instead of internal org structure.
Process
We migrated from WordPress, rebuilt information architecture for how engineering clients evaluate firms, and fixed speed and SEO so the site supports business development.
Discovery
We audited broken links, load time, and how procurement teams used the old site. Drop-offs happened before project proof and contact were reached on slow, unreliable pages.
Customer and competitor research
Peer firms that win major bids present credentials, project scale, and sector clarity upfront. Gridserve was benchmarked against that procurement evaluation standard.
Information architecture and messaging
Services, projects, and credentials reorganised for evaluation paths clients use during shortlist and tender review. Copy uses engineering buyer language around scale, sector, and registration.
UX design and conversion journey
Wireframes prioritised credential visibility and project proof before contact. Enquiry paths capture sector and project type so BD responds with relevant case work.
Search/local visibility foundations
Technical SEO targets capability and sector queries across Australia. Structure supports how procurement teams search when building engineering vendor lists.
Launch tracking optimisation
Load performance and enquiry paths were monitored from launch. Broken links were cleared and reporting tracked contact volume against pre-migration baseline.
