Carsharing concept built for first-trip signup
Concept project created to demonstrate BuildTrust Design's approach to automotive businesses.
About project
Website Redesign · Website Design
DriveLane is a regional carsharing concept where first-time users compare service area, per-minute pricing, vehicle class, and signup friction on mobile before registering for their first trip. Carsharing conversion fails when city coverage, pricing logic, and vehicle availability are unclear before signup. Most trip intent starts on mobile during commute planning or weekend errands. Users abandon if the booking flow requires desktop-style navigation or hides fleet availability behind registration walls.
Challenges & approach
Problem
First-time carsharing users need three answers before signup: where service runs, what vehicles cost, and how registration works. Opaque pricing and hidden fleet maps behind account walls create abandonment on mobile where most trip intent starts. City pages that lack coverage detail lose search traffic comparing carsharing options by neighbourhood.
Solution
City pages answer where service runs, what vehicles cost, and how signup works. Vehicle detail and registration designed mobile-first. Trust signals at each step before payment details.
What we focused on
City coverage and pricing pages
Each city page answers service area, per-minute pricing, and vehicle classes upfront. Users self-qualify before signup instead of discovering coverage gaps after registration.
Mobile-first booking flow
Vehicle detail and signup designed for phone-first trip starts. Layout avoids horizontal hunting and desktop-only patterns that kill carsharing conversion on mobile.
Fleet availability signals
Vehicle types and availability framing appear before registration walls. Users understand what they can book before creating an account and entering payment detail.
Trust at signup steps
Insurance, pricing logic, and cancellation terms surfaced at each signup step. Transparency reduces drop-off before first trip booking on high-intent mobile visits.
Product integration architecture
Site structure defined for app and fleet system connection in target cities. City pages and booking UX ready for product integration in the next build phase.
Process
This concept defined city page structure, booking flow, and mobile-first UX before product integration and launch.
Discovery
We mapped first-time user blockers: service area confusion, opaque pricing, and signup friction before first booking on mobile devices.
Customer and competitor research
Carsharing operators that convert lead with city-specific pricing and fleet clarity before signup. DriveLane was benchmarked against that mobility evaluation pattern.
Information architecture and messaging
City pages, fleet types, and signup paths structured around three first-visit questions: coverage, cost, and how to start. Copy uses plain mobility language, not app insider terms.
UX design and conversion journey
Wireframes unified signup and first booking on mobile with trust modules at each step. Vehicle cards optimised for thumb scanning and one-tap next actions.
Search/local visibility foundations
City landing pages target carsharing and mobility queries by location. Structure supports how users search when comparing operators in target markets.
Launch tracking optimisation
Concept defines signup and first-booking tracking by city for full build. Measurement plan covers mobile completion rate post product integration.
